Immersed in music from an early age, with his father and uncles being semi-professional musicians, Zacarías ventured to Santo Domingo to pursue his musical aspirations. While studying at the Conservatorio Nacional, he sustained himself by performing with local bachata groups, eventually landing a five-year stint with the esteemed band Brugal & Compañía. Always aiming for a successful solo career, Ferreira launched his debut album, "Me Libre," in 1997 under the Discomania label, which garnered acclaim and earned him a Cassandra Award. His second album, "El Triste," followed three years later, further solidifying his standing in the genre and earning him another Cassandra Award. The subsequent year marked a milestone for Ferreira as he became the first bachatero from the Dominican Republic to grace the stage at the Festival del Presidente, sharing the spotlight with luminaries like Marc Anthony, Marco Antonio Solis, and Los Hermanos Rosario. In 2001, Ferreira made his inaugural visit to the United States, delivering an impressive 77 performances in just 48 days. He then signed with the Campesino record label for his third album, "Adios."
