Description: You are bidding on a WWI Imperial German Model 17 Steel Helmet. Helmet is maker and size marked: St 66. Helmet has the thin sheet metal band that held the three horsehair pads. This helmet was left in France by the retreating German Army and de-Milled by striking the top of the helmet with a pickax. The helmet withstood several strikes before the it was penetrated. Under the provisions of the Treaty of Versailles the German Army was limited to 100,000 men and much of the WWI equipment was destroyed to prevent future use. This one was preserved and still retains a good portion of its original painted finish. I combine shipping on multiple purchases.
