Description: Bentwood Spoons were manufactured for ice cream parlors by John Mulholland.Bentwood spoons grew from their use with ice cream parlors related to the the Breyer Ice Cream Company in the 1920s.Mulholland, an Irishman, made his mark on the ice cream industry by developing plates and spoons to consumethe sweet treat. From his factory in Milford Delaware wooden utensils were distributed around the country. Eventually thecompany produced lollipop sticks, mustard stirring sticks and wooden tongue depressors for the medical field. Rudyard Kipling wrote a poem about young Mulholland crossing the Atlantic.
