VINTAGE WATERFORD CRYSTAL ALANA 9.75" SHIPS FLAT DECANTER IN FABULOUS CONDITION

Up for auction is one VINTAGE WATERFORD CRYSTAL ALANA 9 3/4 INCH SHIPS FLAT DECANTER IN FABULOUS CONDITION. The crystal decanter measures 9 3/4 inches tall with the stopper in (7 inches tall without the stopper), has a top inside opening diameter of 1 1/2 inches across (2 1/8 " top outside opening), sits on a round base of about 7 1/4 inches wide, as seen in the photographs. The crystal ground hand cut stopper measures 4 1/4 inches long and measures 2 1/4 inches across at its widest, and has 5 rows of hand cut hexangonal crystal facets. The captains decanter weighs almost 4 pounds with the stopper weighs almost 1 pound, and the stopper in absolutely perfect condition. I was told that the decanter has a capacity of about 32 ounces of liquid. This is Waterford's famous hand blown and hand cut pattern called "Alana" which was made from 1952 until 2022 and has since been discontinued. Also, since there is no acid etched Seahorse (which was added to the logo after the year 2000), making this decanter between 24 and 72 years old. It is hand-cut and hand-blown by the famous Waterford Crystal Co. of Ireland, and has the famous Gothic acid-etched "Waterford" insignia on its outer edge, as seen in the last two photographs. This beautiful hand blown and hand cut pattern consists of 8 rows of hand cut diamonds completely encircling the bottom of the decanter with 8 cut convex pillar flutes that are 3 3/4 inches long above extending to the top of the neck. The bottom consists of 16 long petal like cuts that are 1 1/4 inches long and completely cover center of the bottom, and surrounded by 1 1/4 inch cuts completely surrounding the bottom, as seen in the photographs. There are some very tiny white specks inside the decanter probably left from some liquid residue from before.I was told that this could be very easily removed with an interior cleaning, but I will leave that up to the new buyer. This is the only thing wrong that I can see, otherwise the decanter is perfect, and the price reflects this. In fact, you lave to look really closely to see them, and they didn't even come out in all of the photograph that I took, as you can see. Although this was purchased from an very old estate sale on Long Island and was pre-owned, it is in fabulous condition, with no scratches on its bottom, where scratches would normally be expected to be found, commensurate with its age. I found it sitting in the back on a shelf inside a closed dining room cabinet, where apparently it sat for many years and was probably hardly used, because there are absolutely no scratches anywhere. I have been collecting unusual vintage objects for many years, and always try to describe the item as best as I can. Except for those very tiny white flecks already described, there are no scratches, chips, fleabites, stains, or repairs anywhere. This decanter comes from a smoke-free home.
