This piece is sand casted with buildings and a horse and trolley image and the words 100th Anniversary 1814-1974, Building a second Century of Quality, York Div. Borg-Warner Corporation. Included with plate is the original paperwork. An excerpt from the paperwork states: " (A Word About Sand Casting) What is sand casting? Sand casting is an art older than pewter itself. Quite simply, an impression is made in sand- that impression is filled with molten metal forming the piece you are now inspecting. Each piece is made in a separate mold and in order to remove the piece from the mold- the sand must be destroyed. So each piece of Pewtarex is actually one of a kind- an original."
