Vintage Light Antique 1920s Copper THISTLE Chandelier by Lightolier

Description: I’m very excited to offer for your consideration this absolutely STUNNING 1920’s copper plated, cast iron, THISTLE motif chandelier by Lightolier! ABOUT LIGHTOLIER Beginning in the 1920s, with a storied history spanning across many decades, Lightolier manufactured some of the finest lighting fixtures available. Their spectacular, top notch quality designs often cost twice as much as comparable offerings from contemporary competitors. This fixture completely embodies 1920’s stylings, and is of the highest quality, as is to be expected from such a high end manufacturer. I’ve never offered a fixture quite like this one before, and it is one of the most elegant fixtures I’ve ever restored. Overall, the copper plated finish over (I think) cast iron is in excellent vintage condition, and has been retouched a bit, but still shows signs of age, being a 100 year old fixture. The deeply, richly cast and decorated stem panels really make this piece stand out from more commonly seen lighting of this era, and I LOVE how prolifically the thistle motif is repeated, found all over the fixture. I would be remiss not to point out the stunning, original, amber tinted mica disc overlaying the reticulated bottom panel of the main body. Even the finial is unique - sporting, of all things, a crest of LIONS! The original ceiling canopy was missing when I first encountered this piece, but I digress that the replacement I was able to source looks, methinks, fantastic. That aside, the rest of the chandelier is completely original, even the chain! It was a treat to discover that it, too, was copper plated upon stripping the very darkened original varnish. I am so, so very rarely able to retain original fixture chain, as it is usually found corroded and rusted away to nearly nothing - so for the distinctive, original copper chain to remain is astounding. *NOTE* This fixture is already quite long all by itself without any chain at all. As I found it, there was nearly twice the amount of chain I currently show, and the total drop length was, in a word, absurd - so I shortened the drop to a more sensible length. The overall length as I show it in the listing photos currently measures 36”. I can shorten this even more if need be, removing up to an additional 10” of chain, and I can also lengthen this a bit if wanted, adding up to an additional 14” of original chain back to the fixture. If you’ve been looking for something EXTRA glamorous and unique for over your dining room table or in your foyer, this fixture might just be the one! This scale of this fixture is ideal for almost any medium to large size room, measuring approximately 36- inches to the bottom of the finial as shown. It is quite robust in diameter as well, measuring at about 20 - inches around. Again, I may be able to adjust the length a bit if desired. Just let me know! The sockets, cardboard candle covers, and the wiring are all brand new - cloth covered like the original was. All the necessary mounting hardware to install the fixture is included in the sale.
