Description: ORIGINAL LESTER GEORGE HORNBY (1882-1956) 'CLEARING AFTER THE STORM - IPSWICH RIVER' MEZZOTINT ETCHING This is really a wonderful original. Back about 15 years I handled a portion of the Lester Horby estate of etchings. I had about 40+ images by the artist and since then I have had about 20 more (check my store as I currently have many of his World War 1 etchings available). In all of those images as well as my research on the internet, I have not been able to find an example of this print. For those not familiar with the artist, I have included his biography below. This is a wonderful mezzotint etching view of the Ipswich River on Cape Ann Massachusetts. A large image with incredible color and contrast. Image measures 7 7/8 x 10 7/8 inches on complete original sheet measuring 11 1/2 x 15 inches and is in great condition. Signed by the artist below the image lower right and titled lower left, both in pencil. The print has been taped top edge recto into original backing and matte. Ready to be easily removed and archival framed. Really a wonderful example of this scarce print by one of the most important Cape Ann artists of the 20th Century. FREE SHIPPING ANYHWERE IN THE UNITED STATES! If you collect Hornby, check my store for the other prints as well as a couple paintings I am also offering.
