Vintage Hazel-Atlas Crinoline pink saucers (only)

Description: This listing offers up to 5 pink Hazel-Atlas saucers (no separate cups in this listing!). I offer both a discount for buying more than one saucer, plus will refund excess shipping on multiple purchases (read the third & fourth paragraphs please!). These saucers are part of a larger set of different Hazel-Atlas Crinoline pieces in three different colors; I wanted to offer you the choice to buy what you wanted, and not what you didn't. In my other Hazel-Atlas listings, you'll find matching cup & saucer sets, 8-5/8" plates, a pink cream & sugar set, an aqua sugar bowl, and dessert bowls. (I will extend the multiple purchase discount for the Hazel-Atlas across the different listings.) SHIPPING: Shipping costs are based on purchasing one piece according its size, weight, and where you live. That's the Post Office. If and when you buy two pieces -- say a saucer and a teacup set -- the packing rules change. The weights are different and the package is a different size, possibly over the 12" the Post Office likes best. Perhaps you buy all four sets of one color of the cup and saucers. At 5 pounds, It might make sense to send Medium Flat Rate Priority, or just Priority, or just Ground Advantage. It could be cheaper to get faster shipping if you live west of the Mississippi River. The truth is, if you buy multiple pieces, I won't know the best way to ship them until I pack them. ABOUT MY SISTER BETSY, HOMER LAUGHLIN AND HAZEL-ATLASMy late sister Betsy and I grew up in Pittsburgh, PA. She stayed; I left in the early 1970s. She became a remarkable collector (and sometimes seller) of all the creative bounty of her region, namely western Pennsylvania, Ohio, and West Virginia. Without going into why that was such an amazing area (think Ohio River mud), two American companies in particular emerged from West Virginia, just south of Pittsburgh, in the late 1800s which still have our interests if you're reading this. One was Homer Laughlin China, the creator of Fiestaware and tons of china of all types. (It ultimately moved across the border to Ohio.) If Homer Laughlin was the people's ceramics, then Hazel Glass (Hazel-Atlas beginning in 1902) became the people's glassware, from fruit jars and Vaseline to milk of magnesia. (Hazel-Atlas opened a giant plant in Washington, PA, minutes from downtown Pittsburgh.) When the twin tornadoes of Prohibition (liquor bottles) and the Depression (jobs and consumer goods) descended in the 1930s, Hazel-Atlas started designing affordable but attractive dining ware (Depression Glass), with such strange names as Ovide and Platonite -- an alternative to milk glass, used as the white base you see in the Crinoline line, which let the company do fascinating things with colors. These "crinoline" pieces -- no doubt a reference to the ruffled women's petticoats that have been around for a few centuries -- were a feature of the 1950s, bringing together the skillful glassmaking and the festive coloring. Though the company was bought out shortly thereafter, the Hazel-Atlas name survived until 1964.
