Description: One of a kind. The license plate from 1970 a former governor Byrnes. James Francis Byrnes (1882-1972) served as United States Senator, Supreme Court Justice, and South Carolina governor. He was an integral part of Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s administration and attended the Yalta conference. His last elected position was as governor of South Carolina. As a retired governor, his license plate was G1. This is from 1970 which was the states tricentennial. Impeccable condition and from a time when you changed plates every year and there were both front and back plates. Gov Byrnes, his wife and their driver, Willie Byrd were all patients at the doctors office my mother worked for. Gov Byrnes and I shared the same birthdate of May 2. In 1971 / 1972 Willie Byrd brought these plates, gave them to my mother as a gift to me (I was 11 /12). They have been in my possession ever since. As I downsize it’s time to let them have a new chapter elsewhere. I ship on Tuesday and Thursday depending on when payment is made and clears. I only ship to the lower 48 continental states. I do not ship internationally. Please view all pictures. They are considered part of the description. These plates have a connection to a great American in James Francis Byrnes.
