Description: No Reserve!!! Two early images of the Hotel Invalides in Paris circa 1860s. The views are both labeled on the front as "Hotel de Invalides Paris" and they depict and interior and exterior view of the Dome. Some history: the Invalides served as the scene for several key events in French history. On 14 July 1789 it was stormed by Parisian rioters who seized the cannons and muskets stored in its cellars to use against the Bastille later the same day. Napoleon was entombed under the Dome of the Invalides with great ceremony in 1840. The stereo effect is very nice with some separation between the foreground and background. The photographer is unknown. I will combine shipping with any of my other stereoview auctions AND I will ship internationally I am starting to sell my large collection of Stereoviews (5k left) again after a 2year hiatus. Please stay tuned!!!
