The inside covers and end papers share the same illustration you see on the front and rear cover. They all look very good, no soiling, no tears, no creases. All the pages, including the illustrations are in excellent shape. Scrolling through, I'm not finding any conspicuous soiling, just a few speck-sized spots. I'm also not finding any creasing at all. Given the age of this book one would have to presume that the previous owner treated it as a collectible book. I certainly have. Finally, there are no markings in the book. This edition is very rare. I found only one other copy for sale on the Internet. From the title page: 'A new and improved edition, complete and correct according to the original text (London 1749) now embellished with numerous illustrations in colours.' I would add, illustrations in a book not to be left lying in plain sight of children. The illustrations, in an Art Deco style, are fairly graphic.It's a pretty naughty book even if there are no 'dirty words', and despite having been written in 1748. I remember reading it (a paperback) when I was a young teenager. How would it have come into my possession?
