Description: SPC Performance Ball Joint Boot Replacement Kit (2) #25477 BRAND NEW IN BOX APPLICATIONThis kit includes two boots and two retaining rings. DESCRIPTION This part should only be installed by personnel who have the necessary skill, training and tools to do the job correctly and safely. Incorrect installation can result in personal injury, vehicle damage and / or loss of vehicle control. Note: It is not necessary to remove the balljoint from the arm to perform this procedure. Removing the balljoint will require having the vehicle re-aligned. 1. Jack up front of vehicle by frame or lower control arms. 2. Remove cotter and nut holding upper balljoint stud to knuckle. 3. Separate balljoint from knuckle using suitable tool. Use of a “pickle fork” on balljoints which will be re-used is not recommended. 4. Remove the boot from the balljoint. 5. Clean all old grease off of the ball and stud with a shop rag. Do NOT usespray cleaners, as they may damage the nylon ball seat. Apply a liberal amount ofchassis grease to the ball and stud area of the joint. Any wheel bearing or marinegrease will work well. 6. Install the new boot retaining clip on to the balljoint housing. Install the new bootonto the housing, then open the new clip using suitable pliers, fully seat the bootagainst the housing, and release the clip in the groove of the boot to retain the booton the balljoint. Do NOT compress the boot down on the stud at this time, it isintended to ride against the knuckle when installed. 7. Insert the balljoint stud into the knuckle. Install nut and tighten to 45ftlb. Tightenfurther until cotter can be installed. 8. Lower vehicle to ground.
