Rogers MAGNOLIA 1891 5 high style Aesthetic floral servers in flannel wrapper

Listed items will not be marked down during the listing duration. There is more than one pattern with the name Magnolia. This one dates to 1891, and bears the (eagle) Wm Rogers * mark. This Magnolia is a multi-motif pattern, with more than 20 floral designs. Magnolia can be easily confused with 1847 Rogers Embossed, which is also a floral multi-motif pattern. To verify these multi-motif pieces, I went to one of my favorite references, Davis and Deibel SILVER PLATED FLATWARE PATTERNS, 2nd edition. Page 314 shows the berry shell and the gravy ladles as variant #9, the fish serving fork as variant #10, and the fish serving knife as variant #15. Offered here is a lot of 5 servers in Magnolia. The pieces and their approximate measurements are as follows: 2 gravy ladles about 7", berry shell about 8 1/2", fish serving fork about 10 1/4", and fish serving knife about 11 1/4". These are not pieces of new silver. They show the patina of as much as 130 years of careful use. There are the light scratches which constitute normal patina. There is no monogram on any of the pieces. Silver is softly lustrous. The pattern is crisp and clear. The blade of the knife/slice is expertly hand engraved with a fishing boat motif. The bowl of the berry shell is gold washed and expertly hand engraved with a floral motif. The gravy ladles have rest dots, and the fish serving fork has tiny heel dots, visible on close inspection. This lot has been carefully used and well cared for. These pieces come in a flannel wrapper which helps prevent tarnish. I polish all silver before listing on eBay.
