Description: Reverend T.J. Wolohan Antique Conduct Medal. This listing is for a unique piece of Americana that dates to circa 1905. It is a Conduct Medal or Award, likely intended to be given to a student to encourage good behavior. The top section would be used to display the name of the student which would be engraved there, but ours has not been used or issued. The bottom section is marked: DONATD BY REV. T.J. WOLOHAN CONDUCT 1905 Rev. Wolohan was the priest of the catholic church in Salida, Colorado during the early years of the 20th century. He spent his boyhood in Leadville, Colorado, a mountain town about 60 miles north of Salida. The medal is gold plated and weighs about 5 grams. It measures 1-7/8 inches high and 1-3/8 inches wide. The back side has a pin for attaching it to clothing. Other than the engraved text on the front lower section, we did not find any other markings on the piece. Condition: Very good to excellent. This is a thin, delicate piece with nicely chased floral detail and borders that continue the floral motif. It has held up remarkably well given its age. The front surfaces are quite shiny, and most of the back is shiny as well. Little wear is noted other than a few faint and insignificant surface scratches. This piece of American history will make a great presentation! All pictures show the actual Conduct Medal that you will receive.
