The wooden box has a very intricate design of wood inlay and straw marquetry work created by utilizing different colors of straw/wood. The design is a floral pattern on top and mosaic design around the border, and top and bottom of all sides. It is uniquely hinged in that you are unable to see a typical metal hinge on the inside or out… it looks similar to a wooden dowel and rolls as the lid opens and closes. Gorgeous golds, copper and reddish-brown tones.Unlined. (Liner could be easily added) Sticker on bottom: ‘Made in the USSR’ ‘Imported by Shelmar Imports, Ltd. Trenton, NJ’.
