The jacket shows extensive wear and tear from military use: some light wear to the alpaca wool, moderate general staining, moderate general fraying, heavy fraying on each pocket, moderate to heavy wear on both sleeves including some heavy staining on the left sleeve, heavy wear & period repairs at the cuffs, and one ventilation eyelet is missing (see pictures). Overall, despite its flaws, this jacket is full of character and remains a great example of the classic U.S. Navy N-1 Deck Jackets from the Second World War, in the rare and sought-after Piqué variant.
