Rare Art Nouveau Solid Brass Oval "Harverst" Door Knocker

Description: Elegant solid brass Art Nouveau embossed oval door knocker measures 6" x 4", with the bolts on the reverse protruding 2 3/4". Richly decorated with a classic Art Nouveau female figure holding a sheaf of wheat in one hand, and a curved sickle in the other, The figure probably represents harvest or bounty, and is framed with an oval foliate knocker. In very good, as found estate condition, the knocker has not been polished in many years, and shows signs of verdigris, as well as traces of old house paint to the bolts, washers, and nuts on the reverse. Unmarked, we think that this dates to the first quarter of the 20th century. A splendid antique to add to any door, the knocker is offered with out reserve.
