Description: This is a really sweet little decorative plate with two homes in a landscape. This piece is all handmade, hand painted and Burnished in the pottery tradition called bruñido by Antonio de Jesús Díaz Medrano. Antonio is a young artist from Tonalá in Jalisco Mexico, he comes from a long line of ceramic artists. I have 13 other little plates like this one (see photos #6 & #7) by Antonio available in my Ebay Store.... It measures 4 3/4 inches across by 3/4 of an inch deep. "He comes from a family of artisans, where he grew up with a taste for preserving family traditions, and like every Tonalteca child the trade, he learned from his parents; María Refugio Medrano Lumus and Roberto Díaz Jarero. Today Antonio represents the 5th generation of artisans, which he represents with great pride….. His family has been dedicated to the craft for generations. "I was born and grew up in mud," says Antonio, who at 25 years of age has earned recognition for the artistic quality of his pieces." This plate is a wonderful example of Mexican Folk art and Ceramic traditions from this area of Mexico. This is a newly made piece and is in perfect condition and is on the bottom. This would make a great addition to your Mexican Folk Art collection or a wonderful gift for a homebody!!!
