Hinges in good shape. Spine straight with square and secure binding. Inscription (from 1887!) on one of the first pages, front side of the page opposite the title page. Soiling, foxing, discoloration to the page ends. Inner contents unmarked, toned. Most pages are clean and undamaged but a few in the front of the book show some chipping and wear to the edges, while others have had the corners folded slightly.
