Description: Founded in 1832 in Bourgogne ( Burgundy), in France, Longchamp Pottery in its later years became famed for its beautiful re-creations and re-interpretations of antique French rustic faience patterns. A particularly lovely touch was naming the patterns after charming, historic towns in the French countryside. One if these was Perouges, a medieval walled city east of Lyon ( I have attached a link for those interested). The Perouges pattern, which consists of a graceful , abstracted bird, is done in whisper-soft pastel tones of lemon, lavender, periwinkle and saffron on the typically blue-tinged white Majolica ground. It is a traditionally designed pattern with thin walls, scalloped edges and pale blue handles and knobs. This grouping , made between 1998- 2005, consists of 26 pieces in total . They are: One (1)! five-cup coffeepot and lid ( 7 3/8") Five (5) flat cup and saucer sets (2 3/8" cups; 6 3/8" saucers) One (1) soup bowl ( 8 7/8") Three (3) salad plates ( 7 5/8") Two (2) dinner plates ( 10 1/4") Eight (8) extra cups. All pieces are in EUC with no cracks, crips, fading, crazing, staining, finish loss or apparent utensil wear.
