Description: Patriotic Civil War Tokens by George and Melvin Fuld This is a pre-owned softcover reference book of patriotic tokens used during the American Civil War. It was published by the Quarterman Publications, Inc. in 1965. At the time of this war, most coinage was being hoarded by citizens, leading to severe shortages of money, according to the discussion in the book. Postal stamps were sometimes used by citizens, and a variety of coin alternatives were issues by different entities. This included paper money, cardboard, and copper tokens. This book covers a selection of patriotic type tokens; this book is not a comprehensive guide for all civil war tokens or money alternatives. The condition of the book is very good with no marks or tears. The size is about 7 ¾ by 5 by 3/8 inches. Please see pictures for more details. I will be listing more coin reference books so please check back for my other listings. Please email me with questions at least 24 hours in advance of the auction’s end. Shipping will be by media mail which is slower unless expedited shipping is selected and this will cost more. I will ship within one business day on weekdays and will combine shipping if multiple items are purchased. I ship to the United States only.
