August Batschari founded a cigarette factory in Baden-Baden in 1834. (The oldest one in Germany) and became one of the leading producers of cigarettes. Batschari is next to Manoli to the great patrons of advertising art and employed famous advertising artists such as Hans Rudi Erdt, Ivo Puhonny, Lucian Bernhard and Ludwig Hohlwein. Ernst Heilemann, Karel Simunek, George Leroux, Emilio Vila. This particular poster hasn’t been identified as to which artist and thereby anonymous. but quite possibly one of the above artists or someone of equal stature. Somewhere it said that U.A. designed this poster. The cigarette tin and paperboard box you see pictured here is from the German Historical Museum Foundation or Stiftung Deutsches Historisches Museum. Today the old enamel signs, cigarette boxes, posters and advertisements by Batschari are sought-after collectibles. It has chipping around the edges (which wasn't present in initial photographs of the poster). I did manage to find most of the chips in the package it came in and will of course send with the poster This piece comes direct from Germany. A private collector via top auction house there. It will be mailed/shipped flat, instead of in a roll.in a professional manner with insurance. It is suggested that it be backed with linen to better preserve it further.
