Description: ORIGINAL WWII PHOTO - ORIGINAL TO THE TIME - NOT A COPY, SCAN, OR REPRO QUANTITY: 1 - See the other original WWI & WWII photos that I have listed. ITEM: Original WWII Snapshot Photo of the 1st BATTALION, 110th INFANTRY REGIMENT, 28th DIVISION training in Louisiana in 1942. Shows unnamed GI of the 1st Battalion with M1 Garand Rifle in the woods, at Camp Livingston, Louisiana, 1942. See the other photos from this unit that I have listed (all with 28th Division searchable in the titles). Photo is from a GI of the 1st Battalion, 110th Infantry Regiment, 28th Division as they trained mostly at Camp Livingston, Louisiana from March to November 1942. The unit was easily identified as the 28th Division by their patches and further narrowed down to the 1st Battalion of the 110th Infantry by some of the named men in the photos including Father Alan P. Madden who was the 1st Battalion's Chaplain through all their fighting in Europe up to the Battle of the Bulge when he was taken prisoner by the Germans. The shot up and weary 28th Division stalled the German advance during the initial phase of the Battle of the Bulge. Earlier this very battalion marched down the Champs-Elysees in the victory parade on August 29, 1944 after Paris was liberated. A photo of the 1st Battalion of the 110th Infantry in this parade was later featured in the 1945 US Army 3 cent postage stamp. SORRY. I WILL NOT SELL OR SHIP THIS ITEM TO RUSSIA, AFRICA, OR SOUTH AMERICA DUE TO PROBLEMS WITH POSTAL SYSTEMS. DATE: WWII - photo does not glow under a black light. SIZE: 3.25" x 5" CONDITION: Very Good; See scans.. BACK: Blank; See last scan. SOURCE: From the archives of the World War History & Art Museum (WWHAM) in Alliance, Ohio.
