Description: This listing is for a vintage Cray scale model of the Cray X-MP supercomputer. These were given to buyers of the Cray X-MP so they could use the 1 inch to 1 foot panel under the three pieces so they could figure out how to arrange them in the buyers computer room. They were also displayed at conventions. The X-MP was Cray Research's second computer. This was the worlds fastest computer from 1983-1985. This Cray X-MP scale model comes in four pieces. The computer floor is made from 12.25" X 7.5" X 0.25" black Lucite. The Lucite has a white "felt" fabric with squares that represent 1 foot square computer room floor tiles. The largest part of the model is the X-MP processor. The diameter of this is 5.5". This and the other two pieces are all 3.75" tall. The second piece that connects to the X-MP with two arms is the SSD (Solid-State Device) The third piece whits sits part from the X-MP/SSD complex is the IOS (Input-Output Subsystem) These are made from wood and painted with a high-gloss paint. This model is in excellent condition. There is some stress cracks in the paint. This model was made in Japan and has been sealed in the original box with styro worm packing since 1983. I opened this for the first time for the pictures. When I ship this I will re-pack this with original box and packing. There is no markings on the box. This model is dark and light blue. This model in blue is very sharp looking. These Cray scale X-MP models are very rare and hard to find.
