The token displays the image of the French Liberty Head facing left surrounded by 13 stars and the date 1863 below it. The date shows dashes over the 1 and 3 making the obverse die #13 per Fuld. The reverse has the legend "ARMY & NAVY" in the center within a wreath having crossed swords in the bottom. The token has a plain edge, weighs ~3.2 gm and is ~19 mm in diameter. It is lightly toned and shows wear commensurate with its age and circulated status. It has oxidation or darkened spots on both obverse and reverse.
