Description: 1872-H Newfoundland fifty cents. Obverse with young Victoria facing left, and standard regnal legend around the border. The mintmark "H", is just below the neck. The reverse shows the date and denomination inside a beaded circle in the center, with the decorative border around that. The portrait side is still very strong in detail of the hair, and high points of the design, but the surfaces shows a number of random, miscellaneous contact marks over surface. The reverse shows a number of light marks in the open field of the coin of the type light circulation would produce. Both the obverse and reverse have been cleaned at some time in the past, not abrasive, but making it brighter and some shiny look.
