Description: NEWCOMB COLLEGE POTTERY ART DECO PERIOD 6.25" TALL FLORAL VASE, ANNA FRANCES SIMPSON, 1929. Measures 6 1/4"H X 4"W at widest point and 2 3/8"D at top outside rim. Base signed showing the following information: ARTIST: AFS- Anna Frances Simpson(see bio below), and Potter: JH- Jonathan Hunt. Features beautifully hand carved trumpet creeper flowers and foliage around upper perimeter. Each Newcomb College piece is unique as none were ever duplicated. ANNA FRANCES SIMPSON BIO: Anna Frances Simpson was one of the most prolific Newcomb artists, from her start in 1902 to her rank as Art Craftsman until 1929. Simpson's work was displayed all over the nation and she won medals in California and Texas expositions.
