It is a Ratcheting type that turns only one way each ratchet or click is 1 minute. Watch states on back it is water resistant to 3 ATM (Withstands pressures equivalent to a depth of 30 meters. Splashes, rain or snow, showering, jumping into water, etc.) Also states it is a Japan Movement. It does not tick, the second hand moves like it ticks each second but it is a silent movement. Back cover has some very light scratches, someone may have tried to change the battery before I acquired it. I had a jeweler replace the battery correctly. This was from the estate of a retired New York City Police Officer. The person I spoke with handling the sale declined to give me their name and told me it was at the families request. I am not an expert on watches, however here are some measurement I made.16.5 mm that is the inside diameter of the rotating bezel, or what I assume would be considered the watch face. The watch spans @ 1" band to band and is @ 1 1/16" from side to tip of the crown when it is pushed in. The total thickness is 5/16" Crown works as it should and sets the time. The Band is adjustable and with the band adjusted to it's full size, it is a total of 6 3/4" inches that includes the clasp in the closed and locked position then add another 1" for the watch and that give you a total circumference of 7 3/4". View the Photos, the clasp has 4 addition size settings and I asked (the jeweler) and was told you can also have several links removed if needed.
