Description: This well preserved little tome by George A. Raeth, A. B. is a wonderful design & construction manual for making utilitarian household furnishings. The unusual thing about it is that the furniture designs are originals that are a crossover between Art Moderne and MCM mid century. The book was published in 1941(first edition) which is just a little early to qualify for mid century modern, but the furnishings show all the hallmarks of Art Moderne looking ahead to Mid Century Modern. The drawings alone are worth framing. The author writes, " The acceptance and permanence of Modern Design is no longer questioned. The public is now "Modern conscious" and asks what is good and what is bad in design, construction and finish. American furniture, like American art, has become an important factor in American culture and in the daily lives of our citizens. Modern furniture reflects the spirit of our times."This would be a jewel in the design book collection of the artist. i ship promptly from a clean pet friendly environment. thankyou.
