Description: Very attractive Victorian book bound in fine decorative cloth. There is a bright illustration to the front and illustrated spine. The book has a sprayed gilt top edge which has retained some of their sheen under the light. The book is about 6 inches high and 300 pages This is an anthology of poetry by Elizabethan dramatists including:ShakespeareBen JonssonRobert GreeneJohn FletcherThe poems are taken from two earlier anthologies It is in very good condition for its age. The binding is tight with no loose or missing pages. The index of first lines is on uncut paper while the body of the text is on unevenly rough cut paper with some spotting to the external edge. Internally it is clean and bright with just a light age tone. No reader marks. There is a pencil inscription to the front pastedown and some pencil notes to the rear pastedown. Both could probably be quite easily removed. The illustrated red cloth boards are very good and the design to the front is clean and bright. The corners are lightly bumped but not significantly rubbed. The spine ends are a little crushed and the design on the spine is strong. Internally, the page block is clean and bright with no marks or inscriptions to the main body. All in all a very good vintage copy and a highly attractive addition to any decorative library.
