Description: This GORGEOUS cotton 1870's / 1880's red, teal green, and white tree of life quilt is all hand pieced and hand quilted.It measures 78" X 82" and is in very good, never washed condition, with subtle color loss in the unstable, vegetable-dyed teal green, age spotting in places, and no wear. The hand quilting is superb, with straight line, grid, and feathered wreath designs quilted throughout at an even 7-8 stitches to the inch. The back is white, the hand stitched binding is solid red, and the batting is thin. You can see cotton seed residue inside when you hold the quilt up to the light. The quilt came out of an estate ("Bowers") in NE Ohio. 19th century tree of life quilts are becoming harder and harder to find!
