Other: Texas born John Boles (1895-1969) began his acting career in the silent movie era making the successful transition to the talkies where his talents were best suited. He also did well on Broadway and performed his own songs in film and on stage. He is often best known for his role as Victor Moritz in the 1930 Frankenstein movie. Florence Vandamm (1883-1966) was born in London and was a student at the Royal Academy as a painter. However, photography ruled the day and she opened her first studio in the West End of London in 1908. She married George R. Thomas in 1918 and he took up photography as well and they fled the English depression to New York where they took Broadway by storm for 25 years. Florence is credited with the studio portraits while Tommy (George went by “Tommy Vandamm”) did the location work. I will assume this image is by Florence Send questions.
