Description: JABO ET Crystal MarbleCollector SeriesRadioactive Fine Line OxbloodWET MINT Run Date: 3/13/11 This JABO ET Crystal marble run has to be one of my all time favorite runs from Dave McCullough. Only a Plant Manager at JABO can produce a run of machine made marbles of this killer quality. Google "ET Crystals" to see the a wonderful group photo. Dave made these with Elaine Tucker and her daughter. Made in Reno OH on March 13, 2011. Dave just kept killin' it...run after run after run...and this is one of his very best! This, in my opinion, is one of the best crystal runs from JABO since the 2008 Contract Runs started. This particular marble has some very beautiful UV reactive glass and glows brightly pink when exposed to a blacklight flashlight. This indicates the use of selenium glass. Here's something pretty cool that you can do to entertain yourself on those rainy days...if you shine a blacklight flashlight (easy to find on Amazon) onto this marble, then you will see the bright glow of the glass as shown in the last few photos. This type of glass is called Fluorescent. FYI...Fluorescence is the emission of light by a substance that has absorbed light or other electromagnetic radiation. It is a form of luminescence. In most cases, the emitted light has a longer wavelength, and therefore a lower photon energy, than the absorbed radiation...in case you are curious... :-) So, since we have a glower, we can use assign the "radioactive" description, albeit an informal nomenclature adopted loosely. Please don't worry about any dangerous radiation...no gamma rays involved! :-) I'm calling this style marble Fine Line Oxblood for obvious reasons. Having such a finely delineated thin line of red oxblood glass is simply delicious. It has a very artistic style to it and is not easily achieved. Only the best glass technicians running a well sorted marble machine can obtain these high quality marbles. There are some fantastic swirls on this marble with some really sweet baby blue glass...just fantastic! Oh, and one more thing...this beautiful orb has gold lutz sprinkles. If you take this marble out into the sunlight or shine a bright light onto it, it will pop and sizzle like a firework. If you are looking for a centerpiece for your collection, this might be it. I try my best to take high resolution pictures with flash to show exactly what you are getting. I use a Canon Rebel DSLR camera with built-in flash to show all the fine details of the marble. I try to rotate the marble to give multiple views. This marble was manufactured using the 3/4" machine and the size of this particular marble is 0.718" in diameter measured with electronic calipers. DAVE McCULLOUGH WAS THE VICE PRESIDENT OF JABO, INC., AND WAS THE COLOR ARTIST FOR MOST OF THE JABO CLASSICS AND THE JABO SPECIAL RUN MARBLES.
