Printed and Illuminated on Vellum Condition: Fair A substantial fragment of an early 16th century Book of Hours, printed and illuminated on vellum, likely dating from the first quarter of the 1500s.This Book of Hours is printed in a red and black Gothic script, in a 24-line font. There are five small metalcuts and metalcut initials. There are 10 hand illuminated borders with flowerings designs, and one large illuminated initial with a floral design still shining brightly. There are numerous smaller illuminated initials, and hundreds of red and blue line fillers.This volume has been newly rebound, in a period style tooled full leather binding by Keith Felton.One volume in octavo, 72 leaves on vellumThis volume is in fair shape, with some vellum lacking to the upper margins of the first six leaves, some of the illumination lacking to the right margin of leaf B1, and some vellum lacking to the right margin of leaf C6. There is considerable staining throughout with some of the inks and illumination having smeared, and much of the vellum is stretched or warped.I typically ship within 1-2 business days of receiving payment.
