Description: This strand of antique porcelain beads is very finely graduated and measures about 19" long. Beads range in size from 3.5 to 9.5mm. The color is most unusual--a rose-pink with a bit of coral overtone. Production of porcelain beads in Europe began in the late 1870s, particularly in France and Germany. A little later, other centers fashioned porcelain beads, but through agreement, manufacture was strictly controlled. I believe these beads are early 20th century and from Germany, where coral-colored beads were a specialty. Beads are in very good condition. They are strung on original twine, which has become somewhat lax.
