Description: GERALD THURSTON LIGHTOLIER ATOMIC MODERN CANDELABRA BRASS WALNUT LARGE TABLE LAMP 1955 DESIGN: A rare and sophisticated vintage Atomic Space Age Modern Brass "Contessa" candelabra table lamp designed by Gerald Thurston for Lightolier lighting designs circa 1955. The distinguished Contessa collection was one of the hallmarks of Thurston's designs from that era and are typically seen in hanging chandelier styles with glass shades atop each "candle" arm. This ultra rare version is an original large freestanding table adaptation of those elegant forms with a typical Thurston drum shade/diffuser assembly instead of glass "sconces". The parts are manufactured of solid/anodized Brass, enameled steel with Walnut Dowel and are extremely well machined and manufactured. CONDITION: This striking Iconic Mid Century Modern lamp is in outstanding original condition, completely intact and fully functional. The anodized/solid brass hardware and enamel base exhibit just faint signs of wear and slight tarnish patina with no damage or repair evident. The elegant solid Walnut dowel is equally as clean and free of any scars or chips. The Linen fabric shade is an exact replica custom crafted to the specs of the original shade as is the quality translucent acrylic diffuser. The 3-way power switch, sockets and power cord are original and have been inspected to be clean, safe and functional. DIMENSIONS: This large lamps general dimensions are 32" tall with an overall width of 12" to the tripod base, the shade is 20" diameter…bulbs are NOT included. Due to the large size the base and shade require seperate packaging = 2 large shipments...hence the $$ shipping cost.
