Description: For sale is a late 19th C Hanau, Germany silver decorative tasting spoon with a dolphin handle. The spoon is 5 1/2 inches long and weighs 29 grams. The bowl has a ruffled edge and an embossed scene of milkmaids. The applied handle has a crowned lion mask handle with a double dolphin stem. The spoon has not been engraved or monogrammed. It is marked [13] in the bowl with a Hanau maker’s mark.. It also has a mixture of spurious old European marks and a [13] on the back of the handle. Condition on the spoon is fair. The attachment of the bowl to the handle is crude and looks like a repair, but may be a deliberate attempt to make the piece seem older than it is. An unusual old piece of German silver!
