The glossy 19 by 26 ½ inch poster shows Nobel Prize-winning American author Ernest Hemingway (1899-1961) shaking hands with Fidel Castro, (1926-2016), the then-young leader of the Cuban revolution, on May 15, 1960 after Castro had won a fishing tournament hosted by Hemingway in Cuba. A copy of this historic photo poster has been hung in the famed Old Havana bar/restaurant La Bodeguita del Medio, where Hemingway enjoyed his mojitos. “Papa” Hemingway, who had a house near Havana, went fishing with Castro a few times before leaving the Caribbean island in July 1960, two months after this photo was taken. This poster -- printed and released in Cuba in the early 2000s -- reproduces a historic photo taken by the legendary Cuban photographer Alberto Korda (1928-2001). Look closely and you'll see that El Comandante appears to be wearing a black fishing thumb guard on his right hand.Overall condition of this poster is good with some minor imperfections.
