(Standard Operating Bullshit) was a 1981 satirical black comedy film written and directed by Edwards. A biting satire of the movie industry and Hollywood society, with a sharp and witty script, it skewered everything from the studio system to the egos of the actors and filmmakers themselves. It starred Julie Andrews, Richard Mulligan, Robert Preston, Larry Hagman, Robert Vaughn, Robert Webber, Loretta Swit, Shelley Winters and William Holden in his final film role. The story follows a once-successful film director (Mulligan) who has just made the first major flop of his career, resulting in the loss of millions of dollars to his movie studio and his own sanity. After four failed suicide attempts, he tries to rescue the film by buying it back from the studio and turning it into a soft-core pornographic musical in which his wife, a beloved movie star with a squeaky-clean image played by Julie Andrews (aka Mrs Blake Edwards) appears topless.
