Description: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE Rarely found complete with lid and no flaws, this Thompson Glass "Torpedo" footed sugar bowl is a perfect addition to a glass tableware display or antique household piece collection. Thompson produced pattern glass tableware for only a short window of time. Very clear glass and a unique "fish-eye" design make this large covered sugar an outstanding example of late-1800s pattern glass table pieces. Beveled 3-D buttons and cut-type shapes circle the bowl and lid creating a very Victorian crown jewel effect. Even the elevated ring base and finial contain lovely designs. This one would have held large chunks of sugar on the table. The lid served to keep interested pests out of the bowl. Today, at approx. 5" in height without lid, it's large enough to use as a cracker jar or even a candy jar for a large bag of chocolates. With lid, it stands more than 8". Top opening diameter is 4". There are no chips or cracks. As with EAPG, depression and vintage glass, there may be slight 'character' marks, bubbles, ripples and mold marks on bottoms or sides from the original mold and/or production process.
