Description: This is among a large number of playbills currently being listed from out-of-town tryouts prior to the Broadway runs. Many are from early performances when revisions were common and include song titles that were cut before opening in New York. (See cut song below.) ....... This is a rare April 14th, 1938 program (playbill) from the three-night, Pre-Broadway engagement of the RICHARD RODGERS and LORENZ HART musical comedy "I MARRIED AN ANGEL" at the Shubert Theatre in New Haven, Connecticut. (The production would open May 11th, 1938 at the Sam S. Shubert Theatre in New York City and run for 338 performances.) ..... The musical starred DENNIS KING, VIVIENNE SEGAL, VERA ZORINA and WALTER SLEZAK and featured AUDREY CHRISTIE, CHARLES WALTERS, DAVID JONES, The DUNHAM BROTHERS, HENE DAMUR, MORTON L. CONDITION: With the exception of minor creasing to the top right corner and light edge wear, this rare playbill is in excellent condition and will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any musical theatre aficionado or historian. This item will be carefully packaged in a protective, carded sleeve and backed by stiff cardboard.
