Description: Set a fine table for your honored guests and beloved family... "Decor" Sterling Silver Flatware by Gorham Silver HISTORY & STYLE of the PATTERN The "Decor" sterling flatware pattern was made by Gorham in Providence, Rhode Island; it was introduced in 1953. Gorham took a chance in bringing forth “Decor”. Its exuberant asymmetry is unlike any of their other designs. Yet the gamble paid off: this elegant pattern was active (in production) for 37 years, quite a respectable run demonstrating continued appreciation by the buying public. Swooping flourishes, fronds, and curlicues are set along a sensuously curved asymmetric stem. Those motifs are echoed on the bowls of the salad fork, the serving forks, and the rims of some serving spoons: note the graceful shape of tines, the asymmetric reticulation (piercings), and the sinuous etching. A single primrose is the focal point of the stem, although the eye approaches it by a winding path. The lively use of curving natural forms and rampant asymmetry identify this as a superlative example of Rococo style. And, as with any flatware having a curvaceous handle, the implements are a pleasure to hold and use. “Decor" appeals to those with discerning taste who are style-savvy. 92 PIECES OF STERLING SILVER FLATWARE APPROXIMATELY 120 TROY OUNCES *** PLACE-SETTING - 84 PIECES 12 Knife 9 " 12 Fork 7-1/4" 12 Teaspoon 5-7/8" 12 Salad Fork, etched 6-1/2" 12 Cream Soup Spoon, round 6-1/2" 12 Individual Butter Spreader, hollow-handle 6-1/4" 12 Cocktail (shrimp/shellfish) Fork 5-3/4" SERVING - 8 PIECES 1 Sugar Shell, etched 6-1/8" 1 Pie (cake) Server 10 " 2 Table (serving) Spoon 8-1/2" 1 Table (serving) Spoon, pierced, 3 tines 8-1/2" 1 Salad Serving Fork, etched 8-7/8" 1 Salad Serving Spoon, etched 8-7/8" 1 Cold Meat Fork 8-1/8" STORAGE CHEST Your set of sterling silver flatware comes with a storage chest (pictured) for safekeeping and to prevent tarnishing. PROFESSIONAL POLISHING, CLEANING, PACKING, SHIPPING Here at US Coins, we take great pride in providing excellent service to our customers. That might be why we have such a loyal following! One of the services we provide for sets of sterling flatware is that we hand-polish it on a jewelers wheel, then we clean it from the polishing process. And we don’t charge extra for this extra care. (Other vendors charge $5-7 to polish EACH PIECE!). When the set is delivered to you, it is ready for immediate use and enjoyment. We have a dedicated person on staff to package fine silver for shipping. He puts each piece in its own poly bag, then he carefully packs everything in a sturdy carton, layering it and cushioning it to distribute the weight and to prevent damage. Finally, your silver is shipped well insured. Why go through all this effort? We want you to love your silver as much as we do, and we want US Coins to be your favorite source for vintage and antique fine silver! WHO WE ARE, and WHY WE’RE YOUR BEST CHOICE ENI (Eastern Numismatics Inc.) is a multi-generation, family-run company that began in 1974. Initially the enterprise was only for buying and selling rare coins and gold & silver bullion -- hence the easy-to-remember ‘US Coins’. Over time we expanded into other pre-owned valuables: jewelry, sterling tableware, and other collectibles. What we came to realize was this: we’re different from other merchants in the same line of business. We give honest appraisals when buying, and we sell at a fair price. Candidly, we don’t chisel, and we don’t gouge. Customers sometimes tell us their sad tales of woe, being ‘taken advantage of’ by dealers who prey on the unknowledgeable. We don’t do that. I guess our mother raised us right. Thanks, Mom!
