Whitcher (W.A) - Mar 1978. Collected dead on beach. This is a beautiful specimen that is rarely offered. This specimen has been our family collection for nearly 50 year. For a beach find, it still has incredible color & pattern, luster, and shape. There is a tiny pin hole on the columellar towards the posterior extremity - it does penetrate through the top layer. This is part of our late father's large collection of seashells he obtained while stationed on Okinawa, Japan in 1974-1978. His interests in shells grew from more than the Indo-Pacific species when he engaged in trading his shells with some of theprominent collectors around the world. He was an avid scuba diver and seashell collector. The results of many deepdives led to the creation of a collection of some of the best shells Okinawa had to offer. Ted's shells have been cared for and stored for the past 50 years. All are in excellent condition. My sister and I are listingshells after researching them for value, quality and uniqueness.
