Cascade Came Bender for Zinc/Copper/Brass Came This listing is for a BRAND NEW Cascade came bender for bending curves in any hard metal framing for stained glass projects. It will work on zinc, brass, or copper, and will work with round H, flat H, or U came, so you can use it for any interior or border curves. Small 1/8 or 5/32 U zinc doesn't require a came bender, as it can be easily bent by hand. Hard metal cames are great for adding stability and strength to any stained glass project, but when you encounter curves on a round, oval, or irregularly shaped piece, it can be impossible to create a smooth curve without kinking or rippling. To use, turn the handle on the side to create enough space between the top pair of rollers and the bottom roller to allow the came to fit into the appropriate groove on the top rollers. Then, turn the handle on the side to tighten the bottom roller against the came, putting a slight bend in it. Then, take the top handle, and turn it to run the length of came through the rollers, putting a uniform curve in it. Tighten the side handle a little more, and repeat as necessary to get the appropriate curvature. If you have a tight curve to create, do it in several smaller steps, to allow the smoothest curve. If framing an oval or circle, we find it easier to do it in two pieces, instead of trying to match up a single piece of came. Although designed specifically to work with Cascade came, we have had success using it on other brands and various sizes of came.
