The performance of the Schurichs is very good, but the recording has not been reissued in good quality. The performance is one of the finest of Schuricht's many recordings, and the graceful tone of the Orchestre de la Conservatoire de Paris at the time is one of the points to be appreciated, including the nostalgia for a sound that has been particularly lost today. The woodwinds and horns are particularly outstanding. The special feature of this orchestra and Schuricht's choice of the Orchestre de la Conservatoire de Paris for the recording at that time are also interesting factors (the reason why he chose this orchestra instead of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra is described in detail in the booklet by Mitsuoka).
