This is the best toy for boys, men and tomboys !The D8 is an excellent choice as a first live steam engine.It is a simple engine that is easy to operate and maintain while demonstrating how a steam engine works.Much better than the smaller D6 that cannot handle any load, this engine can operate a small accessory. This particular engine has been air tested (video). It should not give much trouble to operate on steam.The heating element warms up. Never turn it on with an empty boiler.It is in very good condition with hardly any observable corrosion.The white residue on the water level sight is calcium coming from the unfortunate use of tap water. It usually cleans well with a heated combination of (distilled) water, vinegar and eventually CLR. Repeat. You will need some solid fuel pellets (anywhere camping supplies are sold) and using solely distilled water is strongly recommended.
