Description: 1996 Walker Art Center 12 inch x 18 inch exhibition poster for the exhibition titled "Beat Culture and the New America 1950-1965". The exhibition ran from June 2 - September 15, 1996. This poster was produced in conjunction with the exhibition that focused on the Beatnik cultural movement. The exhibition featured live performances and discussions with Beat artists and included paintings, photography, video, sculpture and writings from artists like Jack Kerouac, Allen Ginsberg, Jay DeFeo, Bruce Conner, and many more. The poster is printed on matte heavy weight paper and is in good condition with some barely visible creases and a slight water stain. I've tried to capture the overall condition in the photos included with the listing. You have to look pretty closely to see the water stain and creases. There is one crease that moves from the left edge through to the center - through the "CULTUR" letters in the title word CULTURE. There are also vertical creases in the top right quadrant through the letter T in the title word BEAT. The water stain in at the right edge of the poster - in the sky part of the image just above the building, and touching the lower part of the letter T in the title word BEAT. There are also some dirt marks on the back of the poster and some tan spotting overall on the back. The photo features Jack Kerouac in New York City in 1953 and was taken by Allen Ginsberg. The poster is unframed and will be shipped by USPS in a shipping tube.
