Regarding our older Indonesian beads……We’ve been sourcing and buying them all over Indonesia for nearly 30 years and have realized that if you ask 10 different “bead people” about their age, exact origin and production method…..you will get 10 entirely different answers! Knowing that, we’ll just try and stick to the facts. They are most likely replicas of ancient Majapahite era beads. We DO know that they are quite old because we purchased most of them 20 to 30 years ago and kept them in collection. Most likely they vary from 15 to 75 years in age. Many of them were “built” around Very old beads in poor condition or produced using crushed glass from Very old beads to give them an older look. We know this from dropping and breaking them and seeing a smaller very old bead as the base! One thing is for sure……they are very beautiful, very well made and wonderful representations of styles manufactured in Indonesia for over 2000 years.
