Description: BAILEY No 5 CUTTER BLADE & CHIP BREAKER Parts Wood Plane 7th donor STANLEY This auction is for the cutter blade and chip breaker parts, only, from a Bailey Stanley #5 wood working Jack plane. The blade is about 7” long by 2” wide and marked ‘Stanley, Made in U.S.A.’ The chip breaker is 5 1/4” long by 2” wide. They show use with discoloration, rust, pitting, and scratches. Please look closely at the photos to see extensive surface irregularities from rusting and nicks in the cutting edge of the blade. There are no cracks, breaks or repairs. The Bailey No.5 plane was used as a general-purpose tool for dressing down r ough timber to the desired size. The blade was often ground slightly convex to prevent digging into or marking the wood. It was often referred to as a Jack (Jack-of-all-trades) plane. The pictures are part of the description to show what is included in the auction and its condition.
