"ARC-5" RECEIVERS: BC-453B, BC-946 & R-24 (AM BC BAND

Description: You are bidding on three (3) ARC-5 and SCR-274N receivers. Receiver 1 is a BC-453B. The opening picture (before the RECEIVER 1 title) is from this receiver. I have operated this one and gone through the alignment. I had to go in and remove wax from the IF cans to allow the slugs to be pulled out for maximum selectivity. After I did that the selectivity is something around 1 kHz as I recall. It has been years since I applied power to it. My original thought was to use it as a second IF for a BC-348 but didn't integrate it. It also has the large local tuning knob which is rather rare. Receiver 2 is a BC-946B. This is the rare version that receives the AM broadcast band. This one is missing a BFO coil. I have not done anything to this receiver. I did purchase a BFO coil for it but never installed it. I will include that. An interesting possibility I never checked on was to take the antenna and RF coils from the BC-946B and put them in the BC-453B. This would give me good selectivity and allow it to operate directly with the BC-348. However, I saw a video of a fellow using the BC-453B tuning in the BC-348 IF via the second harmonic of the BC-453's local oscillator. Receiver 3 is an R-24/ARC-5. This is the Navy version of the BC-946B that receives the AM broadcast band. As can be seen someone removed the BFO coil and shifted other things to accommodate what I suspect is a headphone jack. I also have one bottom plate and two tube covers for these receivers. They are all SCR-274N parts. Finally, I have one output transformer and two of the large chokes which I believe were part of the filament circuit. I will throw those in the pot as well. Too many projects, not enough time, and too much junk. I have to do significant cleaning out; I hope someone else will enjoy these. Thanks for looking and happy bidding!
